Chris Knights

Chris is an experienced international business leader with over 35 years of commercial and operational experience. His early career as a military engineering officer with the Royal Engineers included planning and delivering major engineering projects, and leading teams to achieve demanding construction objectives in a host of harsh and remote environments. These projects often required Innovative Logistics, Accurate Planning and Robust Leadership. Chris also held a number of operational and intelligence roles during his 13-year military career.

Chris made the transition into commercial life by completing an MBA at Aston Business School followed by management and director level roles on UK and International Boards. He has a range of sector experience in Facilities Management, Security, the Built Environment, Professional Services, Oil and Gas, Renewables and Health. He has led businesses of up to 4000 people, operating across 40 countries throughout EMEA. Companies include Otis, Reliance, G4S, Johnson Controls, Cyril Sweett, Babcock International and Lorne Stewart. Functionally, Chris has extensive experience of delivering business growth through leading large bids (up to £250M), M&A, business integration and transformation, new business start ups, IPOs, new product development and as MD of multiple businesses in the UK and across EMEA. He is particularly proud to have been the founder of a JV in the UAE and subsequently led the growth across the Middle East with a further 5 JVs for a FTSE 100 business. Chris has extensive experience of selling and operating contracts with UK central government departments including MOD, NHS, DfID, FCO and the Home Office and UKTI. He has also achieved success with the US DoD and Middle Eastern governments.

Since 2011 Chris has specialised as an interim and consultant helping companies execute their growth strategies. These have included defence contractors, energy & utilities practices in an international law firm, oil and gas manufacturing and R&D companies, a leading interim provider (NHS and infrastructure practices), local government FM operations and private equity. He feels strongly about supporting SMEs bringing innovation to the UK economy and has facilitated them in delivering safety, security, resilience and venue technology solutions into government and prime contractors. His interim roles have included MD, Programme and Project Director, BDD, Business Transformation and Change Director. He is a MSP Practitioner.
